Registered Nurse
Registered Nurses are talented professionals who have to be versed in all areas. The skeletal system is not only important for the nurse to know about to best take care of her patients, but he/she needs to know the mechanics of the skeletal system to best protect their self from harm. Proper body mechanics can make the difference in the career of a Nurse. Proper lifting, bending and carrying mechanics are important to both the Nurse and the patient. If she/he is not aware or knowledgeable of the skeletal system, there could be great harm that can result to both the Nurse and the patient. The improper lift or twist of the back could end the career of the nurse, along with resulting in harm, and possible death, to the patient. She also has to have knowledge of the skeletal system to take care of post operative patients who have had a knee replaced, a hip repaired or an arm or leg pinned with screws and rods. There are many signs and symptoms the nurse has to know about to avoid infection, dislocation and promote a speedy recovery.
